So I'm sure you can imagine my confusion when I go to feed the turtle and the fish only to find that the turtle ISN'T THERE. Seriously!!!! How can a turtle that small just vanish from his aquarium?! TT___TT I've placed water dishes full of gammarus (his current fav food) near most of the decent hiding places around the house. If that doesn't lure him I'll add some fish. Hopefully he'll turn up. We miss his psychotic, semi-aquatic antics already.

After seeing, hearing, and smelling no sign of him for a full week, I heard the crinkling of paper in our weird little hallway corner thingy while tending to D and Navi today. So I'm standing there listening harder thinking..."No...it couldn't be!" So I grab a flashlight, take a look behind the vacuum and a stray sheet of paper, and who do I see? ATLAS! I picked him up immediately and he didn't even fuss like he usually would. I set him on his basking stand in the aquarium and when I returned he was hiding in a corner in the water. I left ~seat03 a super-excited message and when I talked to her, immediately went to tape up the opening that we assume was his escape route. He's finally settling back down...I know he must be super-stressed, so I was happy to see him actually eat the food I tossed in there.

I'm /so/ relieved he didn't die or get eaten that I'll even use the stupid dancy emote that annoys me so much! :boogie:

oh yeh XD have heard many tales about turtles doing that, even for years if they have a lil yard to stay on, eating grass and drinking dew X3 Glad he came back!

With your daily dosis of ebil-chibi Dan!

So much Dan-ness that it's actually poisonously unhealthy!

I'd heard a few stories and people concerned about turtles doing it, but I guess I didn't really believe it until it happened! I /especially/ didn't believe that Atlas would do it! Man...I wish I could get him to eat some veggies. It would be so cute to see him drinking dew off green blades of grass, but he's determined to remain carnivorous, dangit! Either way, I'm certainly glad he's back! Good to hear from ya!

FAQ #1337: How to get pageviews without doing anything at all!
Thanks to everyone's positive wishes (and his finally making some darn noise while I was home) I finally found him! Thanks so much for your concern! (And please excuse the late reply!)

W007!
Still a mystery how he got out, though. I know (now I /really/ know) turtles can climb, but he's never been a climber...more of a self-burier. ^ ^;
But who cares! He's safe and sound and the opening in his aquarium has been taped shut with wax paper! No more disappearing turtles.
